Both as a dueling and solo piano player, Jay Angoff is as comfortable leading sing-alongs for Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan fans in their 20s and 30s as he is for British Invasion and Motown fans in their 60s and 70s. He is also comfortable as a cocktail pianist playing the American Songbook and show tunes.
Although he has had a career as a lawyer and government official, he has played the piano both in bands and as a solo entertainer all his life. He’s played with Chuck Berry, the Brooklyn Bridge and Elliott Murphy, and he’s been in country, soul, show, disco and bar bands. With Elliott Murphy he’s opened for Billy Joel, the Kinks and Jefferson Starship; with the Brooklyn Bridge he’s performed at Madison Garden; with a Cuban soul band he’s opened for Kool and the Gang; and with a Vandalia, MO country band he’s opened for Jerry Lee Lewis, JoDee Messina and Sammy Kershaw.
He currently performs weekends as a dueling piano player at the Georgetown Piano Bar in Washington, DC.
