Manu
Le Prince
Rocked
by the jazz of her childhood, Manu began singing in London when
she was 19 years old. In France, she has performed with several
bands, including Magma, the famous French jazz-rock setup of the
legendary Christian Vander, and Urban Sax at "le Sommet de
Versailles," broadcast on Eurovision. She joined French singer
Bernard Lavilliers at the Olympia in Paris and has performed with
the Boto e Novos Tempos band as part of the big "Brasil Stars"
show with Chico Buarque and Vinicius Cantuaria. Later, Manu formed
her own band and began developing her unique musical style, writing
songs with Daniel Goyone and Francis Lockwood. She recorded her
album AGORA in 1991.
In various band formations from duo to sextet, Manu has performed
in France, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Greece, Turkey,
Morocco, Switzerland, Belgium and Italy. In Paris, she frequently
takes the stage in the top jazz concert venues: the New Morning,
the Petit Journal Montparnasse, the Sunside and Sunset, the Duc
des Lombards, the Bilboquet, l'Arbuci, and the Casino d'Enghien.
She regularly performs in theatres, public cultural centers and
jazz festivals throughout France.
Manu's extensive sojourns to Brazil inspired a love of the bossa
nova. Her repertoire features Brazilian music, jazz and originals.
She also performs occasionally in special tribute concerts dedicated
to her favorite songwriters, including Tom Jobim and Cole Porter.
