Combine
eight years of classical piano studies with a rich and syrupy
dose of Latin and Caribbean rhythms, blend in eight years of Sunday
morning spirit-filled vocal renditions of traditional gospel songs,
and you begin to understand the musical background of Kasai Jnofinn.
Kasai
was born to a musical family in Castle Bruce, Dominica, West Indies.
At age 9, he started piano lessons at the urging of a church elder
who recognized his natural singing ability. By high school, he
became interested in jazz and other genres of music and began
to develop a reputation as an "in demand" keyboardist.
After high school, Kasai was awarded a music scholarship to Lee
College in Texas, where he quickly caught the attention of local
musicians and music educators.
Kasai has patiently honed his vocal, compositional and musical
directing skills — from garage bands to cruise lines to
Broadway productions — in performances throughout North
America and Europe. He speaks with a voice that is unmistakably
his own, a voice that lends itself to sultry interpretations of
classic pop and R&B.
